What is the process of getting a heavy combination (HC) truck licence

• Contact the Adelaide Truck Training Centre and we’ll find out your current driving experience and modify the training course to your needs
• Using a log book for your training course we assess your competency driving heavy vehicles
• Assessments are conducting using the CBT (competency based training) course issued and updated by the South Australia government

Competency based training explained

• One of our friendly assessors will structure the training to your experience and help you throughout the course.
• Your heavy vehicle driving skills will be assessed until you have reached the government standard for heavy combination truck licensing.
• Your HC truck training assessor issues your competency certificate which you present at a ServiceSA centre along with your current drivers licence.

What can I drive with a Heavy Combination (HC) Truck Licence

• A motor vehicle authorised to be driven by a licence of a preceding class
• A prime mover to which is attached a single semi-trailer (whether or not any unladen converter dolly or low loader dolly is also attached)
• A rigid motor vehicle to which is attached a single trailer with a GVM greater than 9 tonne (whether or not any unladen converter dolly or low loader dolly is also attached)
• Driver's licence must be carried if driving a vehicle over 4.5 tonne GVM

Requirements

Must have held a class MR Licence or HR Licence for at least one year or held a car licence for at least 2 years and attend a 2 day theory course called TILE (Training In Lieu of Experience). On completion you can go to ServiceSA and obtain a learners permit before any practical training can be started.

Terms and Conditions

• Cancelling with less than 3 days (72 hours) clear notice during office hours will result in deposits being retained.
• If more than 72 hours notice given, the deposit less administration and booking fees will be refunded.
• Late fees may apply
