South Australia has several truck licenses depending on the size of the vehicle you want to operate. Our team are setup to get you behind the wheel of just about any commercial truck from Medium Rigid through to a Multi-Combination!

Medium Rigid (MR Truck Licence)

A motor vehicle with 2 axles and a GVM greater than 8 t (e.g. two axle trucks, tippers and buses).

A motor vehicle towing a single trailer (other than a semi-trailer) with a GVM not greater than 9 t, subject to the combination mass limits fixed under the Road Traffic Act 1961.

A special purpose vehicle with a GVM not greater than 15 t.

TOW LIMITS FOR MR LICENCE: Any farm implement. Any trailer with a GVM not exceeding 9000kg provided it is within the GCM of the towing vehicle.

DRIVER'S LICENCE MUST BE CARRIED IF DRIVING A VEHICLE OVER 4.5 TONNE GVM

Minimum Experience for MR Licence:
Must have held a class C for at least one year.

Heavy Rigid (HR Truck Licence)

A motor vehicle (including an articulated bus but not including any other articulated motor vehicle) with 3 or more axles and a GVM greater than 8 t (e.g. any bus (including articulated buses) trucks and tippers).

A motor vehicle towing a single trailer (other than a semi-trailer) with a GVM not greater than 9 t, subject to the combination mass limits fixed under the Road Traffic Act 1961.

TOW LIMITS FOR HR LICENCE: any farm implement. Any trailer with a GVM not exceeding 9000kg provided it is within the GCM of the towing vehicle.

DRIVER'S LICENCE MUST BE CARRIED IF DRIVING A VEHICLE OVER 4.5 TONNE GVM

Minimum Experience for HR Licence:
Must have a class C for at least two years or a class LR Licence or MR Licence for at least one year.

Heavy Combination (HC Truck Licence)

A prime mover to which is attached a single semi-trailer (whether or not any unladen converter dolly or low loader dolly is also attached).

A rigid motor vehicle to which is attached a single trailer with a GVM greater than 9 t (whether or not any unladen converter dolly or low loader dolly is also attached).

Minimum Experience for HC Licence:
Must have held a class MR Licence or HR Licence for at least one year.

Multi Combination (MC Truck Licence)

Any motor vehicle or combination of motor vehicles except a motor bike or motor trike (Includes B doubles; road trains)

DRIVER'S LICENCE MUST BE CARRIED IF DRIVING A VEHICLE OVER 4.5 TONNE GVM

Minimum Experience for MC Licence:
Must have held a class HR Licence or HC Truck Licence for at least one year
